About Diana

Discovering the Inner Artist in me transformed my life. Finding my Passion and Visual Voice plus a way to express it ignited such a fire within me. I felt the fear and did it anyway. I became such an active learner that art classes were my favourite days of the week. When I paint I completely loose myself in the moment of creating a work of art. Many times I have stopped during painting and savoured the moment realizing how fortunate I am to realize this gift.

I began my artistic journey learning to paint landscapes. Trees, skies, rocks, lakes, waterfalls consumed my life. I never looked at a tree or sky again in the same way. A Painters Retreat at Strawberry Creek, Alberta changed how I interpreted landscapes as an artist. I learned you could never have too many reference pictures. I took many watercolour landscape courses and loved every minute of them. Landscape painting became very instrumental in me developing and owning my own style of painting.

After many landscape watercolour classes I discovered the Uptown Girl in me needing to express the distorted reflections on our downtown buildings. My “Urban Images Outside the Box” Series was created. I had no idea how I was going to present my vision but the force was with me. The paintings often took 80 labour intensive hours and fed my attention to detail. These incredible reflections created a journey into my imagination. I was driven to paint the extraordinary out of the ordinary. I had finally found the Soul of the Artist. This magical portrayal created a harmony of mood that provided the entertaining viewpoint for my audience.

My “Mountain Adventures” Series connected me with my wonderful days of skiing in our beautiful Rocky Mountains. Some of my best paintings have been inspired by the majestic beauty of these mountains awe inspiring rugged features. Sunset or Sunrise created spectacular views. The colours of the larch trees, turquoise lakes, waterfalls, stunning mountain shapes, glaciers, plus the changes in seasons dazzled my inner artist. I painted this series in watercolour and introduced acrylic paintings for the first time. My brush stokes became much more free and the bold colours presented a new vision and style to compliment my relaxed watercolours. The audience at my art show said I had created a visual feast for the eyes. I felt I had accomplished how I wanted to share the breathtaking magnificence of these panoramic views.

My artist eye and my zest for life will look forward to my next artistic endeavour into the beauty of the world and my need to feel and enjoy passion.
